Personally Galway is my favorite city in Ireland its not too big and intimidating but its big enough to have a good time. There are many nightclubs all in the same area around the city centre ( eyre square) all within walking distance of each other. The gaeltachts ( Irish speaking areas) of spiddal and connemara are only out the road( if you want to get a taste of Irish culture). There is a university (NUIG) and a college (GMIT) there aswell so there will be plenty of people around your age out during the weekdays aswell. As for limerick I have family who live there and its not nearly as bad as everybody makes it out to be most of the violence you hear about is between fueding gangs not your average joe but I think you would get board easily if you were there for a month.Dublin is brilliant with many places to go but its expensive. I've been to Cork many times and had good times there aswell. If I was comming to Ireland for a month I'd probably do a trip to Galway Cork and Dublin. Ireland is so small you wouldn't even be wasting that much time travelling from city to city.

I would say stick to the west coast. Dublin and the east coast has a constant stream of tourists and will be like just being at home not the , atmospheric destination you have in your head. Galway and Donegal will always ring true the Irish idealistic imho.

If you are just over of a month. I'd go with galway. Dublin is fabulous but takes a while to 'break' into if you know what I mean.

Galway is a smaller and far friendlier city. Good student and young persons town.

I've been living in Ireland 12 years, half in Dublin and half in galway.

I love dublin to bits but it did take me a few mnths to settle in properly.

Galway would also be much cheaper for rent and cost of living.

Whoever told you to stay far away from Limerick has clearly never been there. It is a great place for anyone, and every time I go to Limerick City Centre I see foreign visitors. I know three who came to study for or for a short visit and loved it so much that they never left.

Galway is nice, Dublin is expensive and compared to all of the other cities, not that friendly, and friends of mine who are Dubliners through and through freely admit that compared to Ireland's other cities, Dublin still feels very 'English' as it's the city that has had the most English influence through the centuries.

You should also consider Cork, Waterford and Kilkenny.

However, the strongest aspect of Ireland is not the cities but the countryside. I recommend a tour to see the countryside, and if your level of physical fitness allows, rent a bike for the job.

From North America, dial the international access code 011, then add Ireland’s country code 353, then the “area” code (without its 0) and then the local number. Example: 011 353 49 854 4070 (Notice the first 0 has been dropped from the “area” code.)

or mobile

Mobile phone numbers in Ireland start with either 083, 085, 086 0r 087. The international dialling code for Ireland is 353. To ring from America, first dial 011, then 353 and then the first part of the mobile number, ignoring the 0, and then the rest of the number. So if you were calling the Irish number 087 999 9999 you would dial:
011 353 87 999 9999.

Hope this was of Help

No, but I think it's time for you to start posting your questions in the proper category, which would be Government & Politics or face the possibility of getting a "Report Abuse". Read the Guidelines.
